Visit of the Hon’ble MOS-PNG (I/C) to LPG Equipment Research Centre
Hon’ble Minister of State – Petroleum & Natural Gas (I/C), Shri Dharamendra Pradhan visited LERC on 17.09.16. LERC, which specializes in the Research & Development and Testing of Equipments related to LPG Business Stream showcased their innovations like the Tamper Evident new rigid PVC seal for sealing of LPG Cylinders, Portable hanhdheld Leak tester for detecting valve and O-Ring leak from LPG Cylinder during delivery to customer premises, modified design of Footring and Top Ring for LPG Cylinder, Cooktop for direct mounting on LPG Cylinders, an Internal Inspection System for viewing the internal surface of LPG Cylinders to the Hon’ble Minister of State. The Hon’ble Minsiter State appreciated the products developed by LERC.
Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C), also suggested LERC to think out of the box and put consumer convenience on top priority & adopt suggestions given by industry experts & innovators. He also suggested that LERC should play a role in helping and assisting startups and new innovators in making the LPG more environmentally friendly by enhancing efficiency & reducing emissions.
The visit of Hon’ble Minsiter of state to was a source of encouragement and motivation to the officers working at LERC. LERC was very thankful to the Hon’ble Minister of State - PNG (I/C) for giving his valuable feedback and suggestions and we, at LERC have started to work in that direction so as to achieve the benefits and results as desired by the Hon’ble Minister of State - PNG (I/C).
Agreement signed between LERC & FESTO for commercialization of Handheld Leak Testers
On the eve of IndianOil Day, LERC & FESTO entered into a manufacturing agreement for commercialization of the Handheld Leak Testers. The agreement was signed by Mr. K K Thakur, GM-LERC and Mr. R Joshi, MD-FESTO. Mr. P K Kutty, CEO-LERC, Mr. Ashis Bera, Ch Mgr-LERC and Ms. Meenam Verma, Dy Mgr-LERC along with the entire FESTO team were present during this occasion.

The handheld Leak Testers – DeTect-1 & DeTect-2 are to be used by the delivery boys for the pre delivery checks while delivering the cylinders at the customers premises. The Valve Leak Tester (DeTECT -1) is intended to check the spindle leak of the valve on the LPG Cylinder and the O-Ring Leak Tester (DeTECT -2) is intended to check the leakage through the O-Ring inside the valve on the LPG Cylinder
Workshop on SURAKSHA LPG Hose conducted at LERC for Suraksha Hose Manufacturers
A one day Workshop on "SURAKSHA LPG HOSE" was conducted on 29th July 2016 at LERC, Bangalore with a primary objective to share knowledge and bring efficiency in the Suraksha hose business with special emphasis on Quality Control and Enhancement measures.
This workshop was attended by SURAKSHA LPG HOSE manufacturers from all across the country. Technical discussions were held on improvement of quality standards in the SURAKSHA Hose Manufacturing Process
A special technical session was held by Rubber Technologist, Dr. K Rajkumar, Director-Indian Rubber Manufacturer Research Association, on quality problems and trouble shooting in SURAKSHA Hoses and also on STAR Certification of SURAKSHA LPG Hose manufacturing Units based on good manufacturing practices. This workshop enabled a fruitful interaction between LERC and SURAKSHA Hose manufacturers
LERC organized an Indian LPG Cylinder Manufacturer Workshop, CylTech 2015
The Cyltech 2015, a 2-day workshop organized by LERC, was aimed at bringing the different stake holders such as LPG cylinder manufacturing units, Steel industry, Bureau of Indian Standards and the Oil Companies to one common platform so as to primarily focus on sustained quality enhancement of LPG cylinders.
More than 65 delegates participated in the workshop to speak and discuss on the best practices for zero defect cylinders manufacturing, achieving best surface finishing, logistics management, QA implementation through Quality Management Systems ISO compliance and advanced test & inspection equipment for testing of LPG cylinders. LERC also showcased some of its advanced test and inspection equipment developed in-house for this segment.
The second day of the event was conducted at LERC, Bangalore, wherein the sessions were fully focussed on the analysis and deliberations on the results of the various tests carried out on LPG cylinders at LERC. Test results of LPG cylinders including the material properties were presented by LERC & the various reasons related to the failure of the same were deliberated in depth. Thereafter, a multi-discipline committee comprising of officials from Steel industry, LPG manufacturing units, Oil industry & LERC was constituted to look into the manufacturing process, quality aspects, testing procedures and come out with a concurrent decision so as to improve the system. The session was followed by visit to the LERC testing facilities for cylinders wherein the participants appreciated the same
